Labels Limit Learning

Everyone who has listened to John Hattie may also have met James Nottingham. They often appear together. John being the researcher of them two, James is much more of a pedagogue. Here is a TEDx talk James Nottingham gave in Norrköping, Sweden, a couple of years ago. In this 18-min speech he touches formative assessment, flipped classroom and students’ self-image, never mentioning those words. Most importantly, he gives a new view on grading and ranking the students in class, which would be more beneficial to the students and more in accordance with the intentions of the current Swedish curriculum, lgr11, than what we are used to seeing in the classrooms today.
